Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by around 21.3% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 886,061 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Tuesday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 42,878 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 27,446 megawatt-hours at 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 904,394 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a rise of about 20.8% compared to the previous day.
Electricity production from dam-based hydro plants accounted for around 32.4% of total generation, while solar and natural gas contributed 18.9% and 13.3%, respectively.
Daily electricity generation from solar energy in Türkiye reached its highest level of the year on June 1, at 171,350 megawatt-hours. The previous highest level of solar-powered electricity generation this year was recorded on May 16 at 162,088 megawatt-hours.
On Monday, the country's electricity exports totaled 23,745 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 5,473 megawatt-hours.
